What I Learned in 499 Days

499 days in a row I have practiced Spanish with Duolingo. I'm not gonna lie, I've impressed myself with maintainin

g the streak for this long. But if I'm being really honest, I haven’t learned much. I'm not blaming Duolingo here – this is all on me. Clearly, I hoped that committing 5 casual minutes a day for enough days would magically make me bilingual. I am not. Here is what I have actually learned: If you expend bare minimum effort for 499 days, you will probably end up with bare minimum results. …But, you know, another way to look at it is that what I’ve really been doing is honing my skills of commitment & persistence. I still wish I was better at Spanish but being fluent in tenacity is not half bad. I’ve decided to put this in the W column. It’s all in the way you look at it.
